The SEOPressor Plugin… Priceless or Dangerous?
If NOT Careful, the SEOPressor Plugin May Help Earn YOU a Penalty!
The SEOPressor Plugin is a fantastic SEO tool to add to your SEO arsenal… it is a great search engine optimization Guideline so crucial SEO elements are not forgotten. BUT, it is unfortunate to tell you that there are many tasks that the SEO plug-in is not capable of doing.
The inspiration behind this article began with a phone call from a friend. He and I were talking about why he was not receiving much traffic considering that he was posting 3 to 4 times a week on his blog.
He was sharing his thoughts about how he would like to use our Blog Post, On Page Optimizing Services, but said that it wasn’t necessary because he has the SEO Pressor plugin for his On-Page Optimization. When I responded with an “Oh”, he asked me, “why, is there something I need to know about SEOPressor?”
I told him that there are many areas that are impossible for this SEO plug-in to cover… the main reason being that the plug-in is designed to work with the information that is specifically inside the ‘Edit Post’ box of your blog, which unfortunately misses many crucial areas that still need optimizing.
The SEOPressor Plugin Capabilities!
Let’s talk for a minute about the SEOPressor plugin capabilities! Once you type your chosen keyword phrase in the box below your article and save your draft, the SEO plugin will remind you if your chosen keyword phrase is missing from your h1, h2, h3 tags, your Alt tag, whether your keyword density is too low, etc. It also speaks of placing the nofollow attribute for outgoing links, plus emphasizing your keyword phrase with text modifiers.
SEO Pressor Plugin’s main emphasis speaks of finding the proper Keyword Density for your article, which calls for the repeating of the same keyword phrase within the heading tags (h1, h2 and the h3), ALT tag, first and last sentences of your content, etc.
Too many repetitions of your keyword phrase will earn you a penalty for keyword stuffing, classified as Over-Optimization.
What the SEOPressor Plugin Tool Cannot Do!
Mentioned below are the tasks that the SEOPressor Plugin does not cover or help you with…
- Setting Up the Proper URL Structure
- Your Main Article Headline – which is usually the h1 tag
- The Title Tag for the Search Engine Results Pages (SERP’s)
- Your Meta Description Tag for the SERP’s
- The Image File Names Used Within Your Content
- Cross-Linking Relevancy, (Internal Linking)
- Proper Keyword placement Known as Keyword Prominence and Proximity.
SEO presence in the search engine results pages is your goal here and these areas that the plug-in does not cover are vital to SEO.
Please keep in mind that the reason I am bringing up this information is that there are many business professionals relying on the SEOPressor plugin to do 100% of its On-Page SEO for them when there are so many other ranking factors at play here.
Google and other search engines have progressed beyond simple keyword density percentages. What counts more today is the proper formatting and the positions of your keywords. Google is also judging indexing positions for word association, to include synonyms and the content contained.
Interpretation… the search engines today are keeping an eye out for the natural flow of articles written believing to be more human friendly.
Many Bloggers Take the SEOPressor Plugin Tool TOO FAR!
There are many business professionals that use the SEOPressor Plugin for their on page optimization… many of these entrepreneurs hear through the grapevine that you can get on the first page of Google by doing this…”all you would have to do is repeat your target term over and over to get pages to rank.”
If this is true and there are only 10 positions on the first page of Google, who’s on the second page?
Many Bloggers are Looking for that perfect SEO Pressor Score – There is nothing wrong with the repetition of the targeted keyword phrase, but if you repeat the same keyword phrase 32 times within your content, whether it sounds correct or not, just to fulfill the SEOPressor Plugin desired Score, at an attempt to put yourself on the first page of Google, you may SOON find yourself receiving a penalty from Google.
Look at it this way… Google want’s to give relevant, high quality content for their search queries. Knowing that everybody has the goal to land on the first page of Google for their keyword term… if the first page is scattered with articles that sound robotic because repeating the same keyword phrase over and over is all you need to do; does this sound like something Google wants when they are representing these site’s through their Search-Engine Results Pages?
Google says “Avoid tricks intended to improve search engine rankings – Webmasters who spend their energies upholding the spirit of the basic principles will provide a much better user experience and subsequently enjoy better ranking than those who spend their time looking for loopholes they can exploit.” Source (Google Webmaster Guidelines – Quality guidelines)
Google also makes the statement to ask yourself this… “Does this help my users? Would I do this if search engines didn’t exist?”
Google’s mission is clear with its Google Panda Update (“this update is designed to reduce rankings for low-quality sites—sites which are low-value add for users”), so if you are questioning yourself to whether your content sounds natural and flows, read it out loud or have a friend read it and give you their feedback.
I say this… if it has the natural, readable flow to it, then go for it, but if it sounds robotic, then it would be in your best interest to make some changes.

Keep in mind that there are many other elements for the ranking algorithm at play here: the following are tips and techniques that we here at SEOBlogOptimizer.com follow in place of the repeated ‘Main Keyword‘ phrase that the SEO Pressor plugin so boldly focuses on.
These tips include the practice and use of Semantically Relevant Keywords, applying Keyword Stemming to gain additional uses of the main keyword phrase, using standard Keyword synonyms to help create a more natural flow to your content, along with the Long Tailed Keyword Phrases to help you target what your Internet searchers and the Google Panda algorithm update is keeping an EYE out for (RELEVANCY).
Not worrying TOO much about keyword density and applying these additional techniques will be effective for you to rank for 100’s if not 1000’s of keyword phrases over time… doing these techniques will allow your website to expand its main keyword phrase in to an unlimited number of variations which can help you gain more traffic.
Another important technique is to find Keyword Variants… you can find these and the above mentioned using a search tool like the Free Google External Keyword Research tool for phrases that are under optimized by competitors, yet are frequently used by Internet searchers.
The whole purpose for the list above is to familiarize yourself with these methods and apply them where you can within your content so the search engines will see more of a flow to your article and rank you accordingly for the keywords used.
Closing Comments About the SEOPressor Plugin Tool!
A factor in search engine optimization is the hunt for relevant keyword variations that are under optimized by competitors, yet are frequently used by Internet searchers. Each and every variable mentioned above have a great impact on search engine optimization and its results.
If You Want to Be Found… Keyword Research is the Key, along with the Proper USE, Formatting and Placement within Your Site - “The Keyword Phrases you choose will play a large role in determining where you will land in the Search Engine Results Pages… it may mean the difference between not being found anywhere on the Web, or being the first site that users click on when performing a search.”
If you own the SEOPressor Plugin, please know that I am not against this amazing WordPress tool, I am just letting you know that it needs to be used as a guideline to help you from forgetting crucial SEO elements. You still need to be prudent when optimizing your content by also covering the other areas that the SEOPressor tool cannot help you with.
Keeping in mind that rankings are achieved through a very complex combination of ranking factors by the algorithm that crawls your site… these are guidelines, but they will help you establish a standard for which you use keywords and keyword phrases.
It is also worth a second mention that having a greater variety of keyword phrases will remove the repetition of your main keyword phrase that can get your site blacklisted from the search engines for keyword stuffing or over optimization.
Plus, you can expand your keywords far and wide for ranking your site for 100’s if not 1000’s of keyword phrases over time… doing this will allow your site to expand its main keyword phrase in to an unlimited number of variations which can help you gain more traffic
