Google Toolbar Has a Visual Keyword Density Tool!
Use the Google Toolbar Highlighter to Check for Over-Optimizing!
The Google toolbar is an add-on for both the Microsoft Internet Explorer and Firefox web browsers. The Google Toolbar includes several features that should prove useful during the various stages of SEO.
These features include the Google PageRank of a web page, an auto fill option to cut down on the time spent typing the same information over and over again, and a tool to highlight a given keyword or keyword phrase within a page.
I love this highlighting feature for the purpose of having a visual check of my keyword density. Many pages that are focused too much on one keyword phrase have a tendency to rank worse for what some SEO experts would call over-optimizing. For this reason, I can look at my highlighted keyword phrase, then make some changes to my content using LSI Keyword Research.
The screen-shot below shows the keywords ‘Static IP Address’, in which I used for my previous article, but at the same time I highlighted the secondary LSI keyword ‘Dedicated’. This allowed me to take a visual look at the article to see if the keywords ran together too closely, etc.
To quote from my LSI Keyword Research article, “It’s been my experience that pages that are focused on a larger amount of related keywords have a tendency to have more stable rankings for the main keyword or phrase and rank for a wider net of keywords.”
All you need to do is to insert a keyword or phrase into the Google Toolbar to quickly see where and how the keyword is used throughout the web page. The Google toolbar highlights the keyword wherever it appears, whether it’s in the headline, subheading, body copy, or internal linking structure.
